The Leofoto PG-1 tripod head is a very solid but lightweight swing head. With a gimbal head you can easily keep a heavy telephoto lens in balance, but still quickly follow a moving object. Especially when you mount such a gimbal head on a solid tripod. The Leofoto PG-1 is made of extremely strong, milled aircraft aluminium and weighs only 1 kilo thanks to the clever perforated support arms. Nevertheless, this robust gimbal head can carry camera combinations of up to 25 kilos.

Gimbal head with L-shaped panning arm

The Leofoto PG-1 Gimbal Head offers enormous freedom to position your camera exactly the way you want it on a tripod. This unique tripod head is suitable for use on all Leofoto tripods and also for use on other brands of tripods with a 3/8-inch tripod screw. The Leofoto PG-1 is composed of an L-shaped horizontal panning arm on a degree disc with 0-360 degree markings and a freely moving, vertical tilting arm with also a degree disc, so that you can mount the camera with lens at exactly the right balance point. You can lock the camera holder firmly in place with the strong clip lock. The built-in spirit level helps keep your tripod exactly level.

Swing head with Arca-Swiss quick release

The Leofoto PG-1 has a convenient universal Arca-Swiss quick release, so any Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate can be attached to it. A 100mm long plate is supplied as standard. The robust control buttons allow you to lock the camera combination to the quick coupling in no time. Whether you use a long or short lens plate, thanks to the degree scale on the quick coupler, it is always possible to find exactly the right balance. The Leofoto PG-1 has a width of 76mm, a length of 200mm and a height of 245mm, but thanks to its "skeleton structure" it weighs only 1 kilo without losing its strength. The carrying weight is therefore an impressive 25 kilos!

Swing head or gimbal head

A swing head, also called a swing head or gimbal head, is designed to provide complete freedom of movement. The tripod head supports a combination of camera and lens at their natural balancing point so they don't tilt involuntarily. In fact you hang the camera with (telephoto) lens in a rocking bracket, hence the name gimbal head.
